Peaches still coming in - and a root canal

Updated: Jul 29, 2020

This has been a long day - still hurting from the root canal.

Got up early and started blanching and freezing peaches. Also made a double batch of peach bourbon jam.

Also dehydrated three quarts of peaches to use in a chutney I found in the Philadelphia flower garden club cookbook.

Made some peach ice cream or gelato.

And then took a break and had lunch.

And then started on the tomatoes.Blanched about 5 gallons worth but it only made about 5 quarts of crushed tomatoes. I seem to be getting the pressure cooker down pat and the rain has started . It doesn’t look like it’s going to be as bad as they were calling for.

We are fairly staying ahead of the Hale Haven peaches, the unknown yellow peach, and the Loring Peach trees.

The tomatoes have started to come in heavy as have the jalapeños. The arugula and Swiss chard are still coming in and the carrots are about done. Corn should be coming in maybe this weekend or next week. Hopefully we’ll see some before we hit the road for New Mexico.
