Back from the South - 02/23/2018

Updated: May 27, 2020

We got back from out trip to SGI, and its time to get back to making wine - after unpacking and doing the laundry, of course. We left 3 batches settling while we were gone and it looks like they are ready to be bottled.

RJS Grand Cru Speciality Vanilla Fig Dessert Wine - (Michele) It had some sediment packed at the bottom. Bottled in small 375 ml bottles. It has a wonderful sweet start and then finishes very tart. At 18% it packs a punch, but the finish is a little too tart sour for me. We'll see if it settles the sharpness as it ages.

Winexpert Eclipse Dry Creek Chardonnay - (Betsy). Our old standard favorite. It had settled while we were gone and I racked it over so if things got busy, we wouldn't stir it up. As it was no one was able to make it - but it did make bottling easier. Final ABV 14.6%, and got 28 bottles from it. I think maybe Mollie and/or Paula showed interest in having some - Came out to $5.90/bottle.

Master Vintner Limited Edition 2016 France La Vie Cabernet Sauvignon - (Michele) This one was ready to be bottled but I ran out of steam - maybe during this coming week. The write up sounds good. Needs to be aged for 6 - 12 months. Should be about about $3.50 or $4.00/bottle, depending on how many bottles we get.
